Music composer, producer, keyboardist
From an early age he studied piano. He achieves success in nationwide piano competitions. At the age of 12, he first heard Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple while driving a family car - it changed his life forever.
From 1984 to 1988 he studied piano and composition at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague - where he met Pavla Forest. In 1987, together with Pavla Forest, he founded the rock band KING SIZE international rock band. The group was active until 2006. From 1988 to 1994 he studied at the Prague State Conservatory. In 1993 he founded the Příkrý les Agency (agency and concert activities, publishing), which still operates today.
From 1994 to 1996 he worked as a teacher at the rock school Come to Jam in Prague's Stodůlky. He completes study and work stays in England at the University of Guildford, in the Brittany town of Quimper, on the German island of Sylt and also in New York City. From 1994 to 2000, he performed live performances of Sight from the Trance, music for holotropic breathing. At the same time, he is also engaged in production and publishing activities in the field of classical music.
Since 2000, he has collaborated with Japanese flutist Yoshimi Oshima, pianist Norbert Heller (on the cycle of piano sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Berlin soprano Irena Troupová, oboist Liběna Séquart, Klezmer singer Kateryna Kolcová and others.
Together with Pavla Forest and other creators, he began creating and preparing a musical-dramatic project in 2004, the rock opera Antigona, which had its world concert premiere in 2006 and a theatrical premiere in 2008. The project eventually became RockOpera Prague, Milan Steigerwald's Theater and Pavla Forest, who has been active on her permanent stage of the same name in Holešovice, Prague, since the end of 2009.
In 2009, Milan Steigerwald released a recording of the relaxing piano music Raindrops and the classical piano CD Moonlight Sonata. In 2010, the premiere of the classical-ethnic opera Bardo Thödol NewOpera was performed, and in 2013 the first Czech metal opera 7 against Thebes. In the autumn of the same year, the opera Romeo & Juliet, based on the work of King Size, premiered. The rock opera Faust premiered in December 2014. In 2015, he released the conceptual psychoanalytic album The Soul of the New Man, which is musically on the border of classical and modern music.
In 2019, RockOpera already had twelve operas to its credit, the last of which is the opera Troy.
