Pavla Forest 1962
Pavla Forest is a Czech singer, lyricist, composer, singing teacher, architect and theater director. While studying architecture, she acted as soloist of several rock groups and dance orchestras, she also studied at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, singing. She later graduated from the Prague State Conservatory, majoring in popular singing.
In addition to architecture, she focused mainly on singing (as a soloist and choir) and original composers in a number of genres - from rock to jazz, an alternative to classical music. From 1989 to 1998 she collaborated with Karel Gott and his orchestra as a solo and choral singer. She worked as a teacher in the years 1994 - 1996 in the rock school Come to Jam in Prague's Stodůlky, where she founded a singing department.
In 1987, together with Milan Steigerwald, she founded KING SIZE international rock band. She became her soloist, composer
and lyricist. The KING SIZE group met with success in the Czech Republic and abroad
- for example on his Brittany tour (France), Guildford (UK)
and in New York (USA). The band operated under this name until 2006,
when it expanded into the RockOpera Praha ensemble.
In 2006, the concert premiere of the rock opera Antigone was given,
for which she wrote a libretto and composed music together with Milan Steigerwald,
she designed the stage and became the producer of the project. It is listed two years later
the premiere of the first theatrical production at the Dlouhá Theater, which also
directed. An artistic ensemble is gradually forming around the Antigona project
RockOpera Prague, which is gaining its permanent theater stage of the same name
in the Holešovice market. Other operas from the workshop follow on from Antigon
Milan Steigerwald and Pavla Forest - Oedipus Tyranus (2009) and the first Czech
metal opera 7 against Thebes (2012), which together with Antigone form
ancient cycle RockOpery Prague. In 2010, she completed the same author's work
the couple's ethnic opera Bardo Thödol, the 2013 rock opera Romeo
& Julie and in 2014 Fausta. In 2015, a rock opera based on motifs was created
one of the most famous novels of Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy - Anna Karenina,
in 2016, the rock opera Proces followed, and in 2017, Little Prince.
At the beginning of 2018, the audience saw the opera Exorcist for the first time. She started
horror series, in which Steigerwald and Forest continued in 2019
by presenting the work of Frankenstein. At the end of 2019, they released a new rock opera
Troy, which is extended by the previous ancient trilogy.
